Colorado Back Country Fishing
"Wild Skies' cabin has it all; woods, water, wildlife, wildflowers and easy access to trails and fishing spots. We enjoyed the surrounding views of thickly forested areas, pristine mountain streams and even snowcapped mountain in July. The cabin was more like a mountain home and the fishing holes seemed unlimited. Often we were the only ones fishing the entire day. We look forward to exploring more of the area on our return trip." - Dr. Randy Britt, Birmingham, AL
Our cabin is a 4 bed/3.5 bath 3500+ SF home located on NW Colorado's Flat Top National Scenic Byway between two mountain passes with over a 1/2 milt of river frontage. Within a 25 mile radius are hundreds of miles of rivers, streams and hundreds of lakes, ponds and reservoirs in beautifully unspoiled and lightly traveled areas of the Routt and White River National Forests and Flat Tops Wilderness.
Imagine 235,00 acres of fly fishing paradise, roughly 20 miles in diameter. Much of the wilderness is high, gently undulating plateau. Once you're atop this plateau, a short, steep climb of about 1500 feet from most trailhead, you can cruise for miles through sparsely timbered meadows with very little change in elevation. Most of the lakes lie between 10,600 and 11,200 feet in elevation and have wide-open shorelines, where you can double-haul to your hearts content, often in complete solitude. Trails run to or near most lakes, but cross-country travel options are unlimited.
